Waiheke island
We caught the ferry from Auckland across to beautiful Waiheke island.
It was the last day of a sculpture festival that happens every 2 years. We walked along the cliffs admiring the artwork above the turquoise waters below. The views were beautiful but it was a bit too hot for my liking at 35 degrees!
This is a blip of my favourite sculptures on the beach carved from wood.
After our art walk we caught the local bus to the opposite side of the island to Onetangi beach. We found a great place called 4th avenue and sat outside to share a seafood platter, it had the largest muscles I've ever seen! Afterwards we cooled down with a dip in the gorgeous clear sea and walked along the golden beach.
Afterwards we hiked to the top of the hill to Casita miro vinyard and enjoyed some wine tasting. Bought some delicious fortified wine called Madame Rouge.
We eventually caught the ferry back to Auckland and had dinner in a Turkish restaurant in Ponsonby followed by an ice-cream in a popular local ice cream parlour crammed with locals. It was a perfect day :)
