If it hadn't have been for Ian needing to do a return trip to Auckland, and the alarm going off at 6, I would have missed all of this. But as I peered out could see a little bit of colour and some clouds.
So grabbed my gear and zipped off in the car to nearby Rangiuru Bay just as the sky was really starting to colour. Had a blast, it was quite a spectacular sky...or maybe it is always like this and I sleep through it!!!

Anyway have loaded a few others onto Flickr, didn't know what to choose for my blip, but ended up with this one just as the sun was coming up creating quite a glow on the mountain and the clouds.

An excellent start to a good day.
