A grand entrance
Mono Monday: Exits and Entrances
When the rain eventually stopped at around 5pm, I went out with my camera and, as I walked down the road, I suddenly realised that this was the perfect time to blip this entrance to Dufton Hall – for Mono Monday Exits and Entrances.
The Hall itself was built around the 16th century and is an imposing three storey, L-shaped house. It must have been a very grand mansion when it was owned by one family, but it was at some point divided up and there are now four separate households living there.
I’m not sure about the age of the gates, but the stone pillars are presumably the originals. I have always liked them and thought what a great entrance they make.
