Being remembered

Today I received a photograph of our great grandpa's war grave in Doiran, northern Greece, courtesy of The War Graves Photographic Project, an incredible volunteer project. I am very grateful.
Our great grandpa died in one of the final battles of the war on 19th September 1918. Sadly, his young wife passed away at home in Fife around the same time, leaving their three small children orphaned. Fortunately they were raised in the loving care of their maternal grandparents and aunts, though the loss of their parents was always felt. Each of the children lived long lives, including their youngest, my beloved gran, who passed away on 16 June 2012 aged 95 years. She never met her father as he left for war when his wife was pregnant with her, their third child.
Thankful for such a special and touching project.
