Transparent
A kookaburra's beak looks so powerful, and has to be for the bird to survive. That's what nature intended when the blueprints for kookaburra beaks were drawn up.
The beak has be be made of some pretty nifty materials though, as when you have the opportunity and privilege to hand feed a kookaburra, you also get a closeup look at the transparency of the bottom section of the beak.
This is about as close as I can get photographically for you though, it would be a pretty tricky maneuver to hand feed Larry with the one hand a take a photo with the other!
