Tootsies
Tomorrow is the 16th birthday of J. my youngest son. We celebrated a day early with a very nice family lunch, 11 people aged from 80 (granddad) down to Marti (nephew) who is just thirteen months old.
Eschewing the obligatory cheesy grin with birthday cake, fond mother with birthday boy, doting gran with cake, girning uncle, all of which can be seen on request, I opted for the most contented soul of all. Marti dabbling his toes in the pool and loving the sensation of the water on his feet. He was unimpressed by everything apart from the movement of the leaves on the trees which he followed from his push chair, and the sheer enjoyment of his little toes wriggling free.
Oh that life was that simple and basic for all of us!
