Pink and yellow

When I was young growing up in the depths of the countryside we used to find coloured primroses in the hedges but I have seldom seen them since.  Each year I keep a record of the wild flowers that I find but I did not expect to see any wild primroses yet especially as I have yet to find a coltsfoot in flower.  However there were masses in a little copse and surprisingly there were many pink flowers too.   To my knowledge there have never been any dwellings, gardens or parkland nearby so these are more likely to be a genetic variation rather than naturalised garden escapes.  The wide variety of beautiful coloured primroses found in garden centres have been bred from the original wild species.
