CONNECTING in VEGAS
McDonald's Ceiling
The scene.
You meet a stranger, and
In the briefest bit of time.
You connect.
Like we’re both sending vibes out over the airwaves
Tasers honing in on a target.
The question.
Act or ignore?
Take Anna
Waiting in line for $12 shirt.
Bonding over hot deals,
We shopped at two more stores before saying good-bye.
Take Mike.
Standing outside McDonald’s.
Looking lonesome.
“Are you interested in breakfast,” I asked.
“Yes, I guess I am.”
“Well, come on then. Join me.”
Just like that we ate and talked about life in Vegas,
The fine line between superficial and meaningful.
More frequently, One-on-one’s
Are simply interactions, lacking a vibe or connect.
Take Agnes, Waiting for Southwest flight 705.
Engelbert Humperdinck’s a great friend.
Although he’s sweet on her, and wants more than friendship.
Interesting that she can tell all this while sitting in the audience.
Of course, a disconnect is possible.
The strangers with negative vibes,
You don’t wanna catch,
But can’t seem to avoid.
However, those are examples for another time.
