Burley House

Frustrating day at school. I'm taking a group of pupils on a trip to France (our fifth visit). Lots of trivial things to sort out about some of the organisation that needs to be implemented now, even though we don't go until September.

Journey to school was started by the shock of having to scrape the windscreen of thick ice! Surprised after the almost balmy weather from yesterday. Came out of school to be met by pouring rain so not many blipping opportunities.

Decided to start an intermittent series of some of the points of interest along Main Street in my village.

This is Burley House the first building you see as you enter the village from the east.
Built in 1798, it is the only Grade 1 listed building in the village. In its time it has been a family home, school, pizza restaurant and offices.
Sadly it is now empty and up for sale.
It is expected to be bought by developers to turn into apartments and the coach house and stables in the same grounds could be pulled down and replaced by new houses if local opposition fails to prevent impending planning applications.
I would like to see the property in use again but would be saddened to see the accompanying buildings erased.
