FULMAR / CROOKED FOWL
The Fulmar (Fulmair in Gaelic) was also known to us as 'Eun-crom' - the 'crooked' or 'bent' fowl. Could this be a reference to the curved beak or the 'dipped head' pose ? Goodness knows. A monogamous cousin of the Albatross, with a distinctive tube-nose that's used to rid the bird's system of salt. This Ness specimen has beautiful white plumage blending into fifty shades of grey!
