Political partying

I joined the London branch of the UK Uncut Great British Street Party today. Although the ultimate party venue was a secret until the last minute, you may have seen in the news that the party took place on Nick Clegg's street.

Nick Clegg himself was not at home, but we partied on without him. The atmosphere was very good natured, with bunting and music, dancing and cake. Anyone who suggests that it was in any way intimidating (and I see that a few have been pushing that line) definitely wasn't there. Even the police gave up trying to intimidate, and helped distribute potato salad instead.

The Prime Minister said: "If you want to have a street party, you go ahead and have one." Well, we did.
