Blue on Blue
I have had a wonderful day out with flying and the weather was very kind for us. First we went to Gore Bay and had a wonderful walk along the beach which was very beautiful and relaxing. We heard and saw a number of birds and even spotted a few kererū New Zealand wood pigeons. Flying said she had never seen any there before.
After our lovely walk along the beach at Gore Bay we made our way to the Hurunui River mouth, this is where this shot was taken. There are a few baches at the river mouth but not as many as Gore Bay. In this shot you can see the hapua lagoon. It is a popular site for weekend fishing and recreation.
Hapua are a type of predominantly freshwater river mouth lagoon that occurs on high energy temperate coasts. In New Zealand, they comprise a group highly-dynamic and socio-culturally important environments. Hapua comprise coastal conveyor belts for freshwaters and sediments on their passage from river catchments to the marine environment.
