Floating village
My trusty phone tells me this town was called Boeng Veal Pok, give or take an accent or two that I can't reproduce. There is a town on shore, but thousands live on the river in these houses that float on bamboo rafts. The rafts need replacing every five years; the house is supported on two boats while the exchange takes place.
You can't see it in this photo, but every house has a 'happy room' hanging out over the river at one end of the raft. While it's a great name for the loo, the results made us blanch when we saw children swimming and a vendor washing vegetables in the river to make them look better.
Another learning experience ...
