Derelict Thursday - East Kirk Gates

Detail from what remains of one of the gates to the old East Kirk on Sanday. These gates are all that remain of the kirk and now lead to a bare grass field. They are a subject to which I return time and again but which I find extremely difficult to capture well. There are power lines in view and a  pole that bisects the background to the gates, the stone dyke running at the back of the field runs down at an angle and makes all shots look tipsy as a result. Today I avoided the problems by selecting a detail shot instead.
