Mahonia and Cordyline

We expected rain this afternoon so went out in the garden this morning. Carried on, head down, deep weeding in the hot border. We went out again after lunch until tea time as the forecast rain had still not arrived. I pruned the Hydrangea macrophylla (which includes lace caps and mopheads) by removing the dead flower heads and cutting old and thin shoots down to ground level. H. Paniculata I cut back to within 2 buds of the base of each shoot. It was an exciting moment when I found 3 seeds under my tree paeonia. They're not easy to germinate but I'm sure going to try.
