Baviaanskloof Wilderness Section

The tented camp was certainly an experience and we woke to a number of different sounds including different bird calls and baboons!!

We left early to ensure that we got through the wilderness section or the Baviaanskloof and arrived at our destination in the light of day.

It was a spectacular day... very spectacular. The views were amazing and the photo above doesn't do it justice. The roads over the passes were slight hair raising and definitely a 4 x 4 vehicle route. The drops the other side of the road were not to ventured over!! The roads themselves reminded me of when we were driving through Senegal in 2009 enroute to The Gambia... then we were in a small vw polo coupe and not in a landrover.

The wildlife was wonderful to see, doe, monkeys and of course baboons.

We made it from Patensie and through the Wilderness section of the Baviaankloof in 7 hours with both R and I taking turns to drive. The road out of the Wilderness lead much to be desired and we were glad to arrive at our 2 night stop of Cob Cottage. We had a very wonderful surprise when we arrived at Cob Cottage and enjoyed a braaii on an open fire outside the cottage. Unfortunately I then went down with mild heat stroke and had an absolutely storming norman of a headache and went to bed till the next morning. All the while trying to drink lots of water too. My own fault as it had been very warm through out the day and I hadn't drank enough.
