baby egret???
I want to start out by saying huge huge THANK YOU'S for all the hearts and stars on my fern photo!! It really made my day!
Went out to check on the egrets today. The growth around the trees is starting to get thicker so it's hiding some of the nests I used to be able to see clearly. It looked like most were still sitting on eggs. Then I saw this one! It was in a clear spot. All the other nests around it had the parents coming and going. Some still bringing twigs to the nests, I guess to freshen up for the new arrivals! So, I thought I would watch this little one. Surely a parent will be back to feed it soon. I stood there for a half hour or more. Other parents came and went many times. Not this nest. This guy just stared at me. Stared and stared. Where's it's mommy? Don't they have to eat often? All this time Glenn is waiting patiently in the car. He is so awesome. He would wait all day if he knew I was waiting for the right shot. I adore him. As my hind end is still aching I decided it was time to go. Stopped along the river where several egrets were 'fishing'. Took some shots. Wondered if one of them was the parent to the abandoned baby. I didn't get one photo I was pleased with today. So, I am showing you the baby in a not very close photo. I read that it takes about 6-7 weeks from hatching to leaving the nest so I have more time to go get more photos! Hopefully better than todays!!
Had a good day at the store. We were happy since Glenn decided to close Sunday AND Monday to honor all veterans for Memorial Day. I will be going in tomorrow to catch up. I like to be there by myself. I get soooo much more done!
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
Happy Saturday
