The Old Homestead
Put this up once, but must not have it the right button as I saw that it wasn't posted.
Anyway...went out and about with auntie today and ended up for lunch over by where we used to live in NE Portland. This is the house that Bill's mom and dad bought about 1947. They came to Portland from Grand Forks, ND in about 1942-3 as Steve, his dad, worked in the shipyards to help the war effort. They moved from their small apartment in N. Portland to this roomy house which they purchased for about $7500.00. Ethel, my mother-in-law, slammed the door when they walked in as new home owners, because she finally could. No close neighbors to bother. With 2 small children, a husband and her dad, that small apartment living was finally a thing of the past. They lived here until 1972. The people who bought this house are still here and they have taken good care of the home.
We had a pretty good thunderstorm yesterday early evening and another one today. Very rare.
Be good Blippers, see ya later.
