Shavuot

Shavuot is a Hebrew word which means Festival of weeks. In the Jewish covenant in the book of Deuteronomy 16:9-11.
Shavuot commemorates the anniversary of the day God gave the Torah (Law of ten commandments) to the entire nation of Israel assembled at Mount Sinai, although the association between the giving of the Torah and Shavuot is not explicit in the Biblical text. The holiday is one of the the three Biblical pilgrimage festivals (Passover, Shavuot and Succoth or Tabernacles). It marks the conclusion of the Counting of the fifty days since the Jewish nation was able to leave Egypt after enslavement for 430 years.
As it turns out, on the day of Shavuot, the Spirit of God was poured out on the disciples of Yeshua as they waited in one accord in an upper room. (I doubt seriously this was accidentally the same day as Shavuot) Among Christians, Pentecost (fifty days)commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Twelve apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1-31.
I composed this picture some time ago to give reference to this holiday, the dove representing the Holy Spirit.
