Red Admiral

There must be some Robert the Bruce blood in my veins because after a couple of weeks trying I managed to get a shot of a late flying butterfly. But was it on the flowering Ivy I have been monitoring for over a week now? No, this Red Admiral showed up on the Asters in the office wildflower garden. It obviously hadn't read the ID book. In Britain Red Admirals this late in the season are the offspring of spring migrants from Mediteranean Europe. It's not a bad shot with the G9 macro but I rather prefer my Canon 20D with 105mm macro lens for close ups.
