The Caged Birds Sing
Been out of the city walls to visit a massive vineyard and olive oil set-up, confiscated by the Marquis de Pombal from the Jesuits in 1759 - the Cartuxa Winery. Good to walk alongside olive trees and vineyards and be in the countryside for a bit.
On the way back, walked alongside the 16thC aqueduct that stretches 9 km from the river into the centre of Évora. These clothes and caged parakeets (filling the street with song) are hung on its side - the stone part is the aqueduct and the white is the house built into the archway.
