Matilda Day 09

Oh dear!! We wake to a strange pattering sound on Matilda's roof. It's not cold but it's raining steadily. Proper stair-rod rain. The Australians, unlike us Brits, are not generally obsessed with checking out the weather forecast several times a day so this weather is as unexpected as it is unwelcome. We’re not prepared for it although two of us do just happen to have waterproofs with us (guess which two?).

The weather causes a change of plan. We can’t go to Augusta to see the point where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean because we would probably get blown away never to be seen again. The only dry alternative is to eat our way around the area we’re staying in. Coffee and cake followed by a trip to the chocolate factory followed by lunch, followed by afternoon tea, followed by dinner, followed by consumption of the purchases we made at the chocolate factory earlier.

By the time we have finished eating ourselves into a stupor the end of the rain is heralded by a beautiful rainbow.
