Barnacle Geese

A lovely surprise when hundreds of Barnacle Geese arrived shortly after dawn to graze, bathe and socialise just behind the garden! We breakfasted listening to them clucking and the Whooper Swans trumpeting. A fine day!
They are called Barnacle because it was believed in ancient times that they hatched from barnacles on the shore.
