2012 minutes part 2
It took me a long time to walk home but I made it, showered, put on my cool new t-shirt ( a group of us got special t-shirts made for MMM). By the time I got back to school 1.5 hours later it was like a different world. There were people everywhere and not just half asleep, smelly zombies but people who had been to bed and were fully conscious.
MMM stands for movement, perfomance and cooking which means today everyone does sport, and each class gives a performance and cooks their own food. One class had a great idea of dressing up as those human statues and situating themselves around the school. They all had somewhere to put coins but when I gave a coin to the tutor who was fishing in the fountain, he pulled out a hidden water pistol and soaked me. A minute later another teacher came out so I gave her my coin (I took it back in protest!) and told her to pop it in the pot. She got soaked to but the students thought it was hilarious. I asked one group if they wanted forints or euros and they said euros, they weren't happy with the 1 cent coin they got!
I spent the first couple of hours sitting on a gym mat in the sunshine watching all the performances and drinking coffee. Then spent the rest of the day walking round and watching all the sports.
A dad of one of the students has become a bit of a legend within the school and is always here getting involved. He cooked a great porkolt (Hungarian spicy stew) in a Bogracs (big witch's cauldrom over a big bunsen burner) which I had for lunch. After we had tidied up we went to take part in the huge human Olympic rings that we made on the school field where there was a crane to take a photo. I was part of the blue ring.
It was then time to finally go home and have a sleep 39 hours after I woke up yesterday morning!!! I can't help but think that it was the best way to prove I'm not past it.
At 7 o'clock I woke up, changed my clothes and went to my friend's house for my birthday party. There was a surprise guest which was super duper. I got some lovely presents.
A wind up jumping squirrel as I spend a lot of time squirrel hunting around our school.
Chocolates.
A huge punnet of strawberries.
A window box full of herbs with pretty homemade name signs.
A flower pot with seeds to grow my own flowers. The best thing about this present was that our tradition is continuing. Whenever A and I give each other presents we wrap them in newspaper and enough sellotape to keep Father Christmas going all year. It takes ages to unwrap and it's always a good giggle.
I had a lovely evening sitting in the garden, drinking some cider and plum wine, chatting and enjoying the end of my over 2012 minutes birthday celebration.
I want to say thank you to my friends and to my school where they do such creative things as I ended up having a very memorable birthday.
