Osborne House
Day 2 of my whistlestop tour of the Island. Osborne House was mutually decided on and after a slow journey behind a coach (please don't be going to Osborne House....wooohooo they turned off!) we finally made it to find....2 coachloads of excitable school children!! We walked briskly to the Swiss Cottage to avoid them but they soon caught up. The English Heritage staff must have been having a nervous breakdown with the sheer numbers of them - added to the fact that the house has the most 'do not touch' signs I have ever seen in a stately home. Sadly we were a couple of months too early to see the private beach that they are due to open in July but it's a beautiful place to visit.......and it reinforces the fact that lots of money does not buy good taste. Back home for lunch then I went for a walk along the beach (okay, a walk to the ice cream shop) and then started my new Nicholas Sparks book - Safe Haven - at the waters edge.
