Ardievas Latvia!
Today has been a case of killing time until we catch the flight home.
We had a decent lie in (though we are really looking forward to our own bed tonight), breakfast then we had planned to spend a couple of hours in the spa, but we were both so tired we felt fresh air was required.
Last night we finally found a piece of the action, a place called the Rock Cafe where all the locals seem to party on a Saturday night.
It was set over 3 floors; the lower was a karaoke bar, the middle was just rock music and comfy chairs (like a chilled out living room) and upstairs had a disco (mambo no 5 really got the place jumping!) and a couple of live bands.
Considering we don't really drink much at home, we've really sampled the Latvian beers with gusto; they're all really lovely. We had one last night that tasted just like candy floss it got a bit sickly towards the bottom of the glass.
Another reason we needed fresh air today!
We had a walk through the park again, and another chilled out hour drinking tea in the treehouse, before wandering down to Vermanes park to just sit on a bench and watch the world go by.
It was there where we met these two gents; they played accordion and trumpet and although not our usual choice of music, it gave the whole park a really relaxed vibe.
We returned to the Rock Cafe for a late lunch; it was the cheapest and best meal we've had on this trip.
We've had such a chilled out time (which I think we both needed), even with all the walking, but don't think we would come to Riga again as we found very little to do.
We are glad we have been though as it's been a great experience.
I've been trying to keep up with you all on blip while we've been away, and I'm concerned about some of the things I've read, namely that our blipping days may be numbered, though nobody seems to know for sure.
I'm not sad to say goodbye (ardievas) to Latvia, but I would be parting with my Blip family. Fingers crossed it won't come to that :-(
