Sight restored - IMPACT's floating hospital
A cataract patient has her eye shield removed after cataract surgery on board IMPACT Bangladesh's Jibon Tari floating hospital.
There are around 700 rivers in Bangladesh, so a floating hospital is the ideal way to take medical care and surgery to underserved communities.
Operations to restore sight, hearing and mobility, and repair cleft lip all take place on board. £40 is the average cost to IMPACT of each life-transforming operation.
More than 25,000 people have had their sight restored since the hospital's launch in 1999.
