Snakes and ladders.
Snake's Head Fritillary (Fritillaria melegris) is one of England' rarest wild flowers. In past centuries it grewin many places in the Thames Valley and thousands of blooms were picked and sold in London markets.
Now it is found in small areas in Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. A few years ago it was voted as the County Flower of Oxfordshire. One of the best displays is in the grounds of Magdalen College, Oxford, where it has grown for hundreds of years.
It can be bought from plant nurseries however. Those above were bought in a bowl and will be planted out in Knottman's small wild flower lawn alongside a number of orchids.
