Happy Birthday, Sweet Baby Girl

Today my little girl turned seven (!), and in a little corner of my heart I also celebrated seven years of motherhood. I feel a little like a bad mom, however. She didn't have school today, so I made her sit with me over at the new house where I cursed and sweated over assembling Ikea furniture and she played with her dolls while we waited for a refrigerator delivery and for a plumber who showed up 3 hours late. It was a beautiful day, and I tried to make up for it with a trip to the ice cream stand in the late afternoon. Dinner was sushi for the three of us plus Grandpa who, bless him, remembered to bring a cake.
