A long way up to the Meikledale Horseshoe
A blazingly hot day but the walk was made possible by a steady breeze in the hills. We completed the Meikledale Round, an 11 mile walk in the hills near Langholm. There was a lot of heather to walk through and some quite boggy bits on the top. Glorious walk and glorious day.
Looking at this image I realise the walker could be going up or down hill, but she is toiling up. We all made it and enjoyed the walk.
This evening there was a buffet in the Buccleugh Centre followed by local entertainment. What a treat. A group from the Langholm Moorland Education Project presented a musical drama about wildlife on the moors. Then we hear the Reverend I M Jolly talking about his life in the church (hilarious to put it mildly) and then a local folk group sang. A lovely evening.
