London 2012 Day 4

The view at Greenwich Park with William Fox-Pitt on Lionheart about to produce a clear round which helped Great Britain to secure a silver medal behind Germany in the three-day event, our only medal of the day.

Mrs L again cheered Andy Murray to victory over Finland's Jarkko Nieminen in straight sets while Michael Jamieson broke the British record for the 200m breaststroke when winning his semi-final in 2:08.20.

"Interesting" events in the women's badminton match between Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang of China and Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na of South Korea where both teams were playing to lose and therefore get an easier draw in the knockout stages. This has resulted in both teams being disqualified - to me that's wrong and the fault of the organisers not the athletes. The athletes were playing by the "flawed" rules. We've seen this before in many sports where a couple of teams have settled for a result that suits them - not nice to watch, but the rules are the rules - change the rules or the format organisers don't penalise the athletes for your own lack of foresight.
