The price of a cup of coffee
Got another email (this time from SmugMug) that referred to "the price of a cup of coffee"....
What exactly does that mean? and when did "the price of a cup of coffee" become a unit of currency, like "the size of Wales" is an area of measurement? Given that I've been using money for 45 years I'm vaguely familiar with the concept and calculations involved in using a decimal currency, I've even used up to 20 or more other decimal currencies, all with varying exchange rates to sterling (the Jordanian three tier system was a bit of a pain...).
Off course they are just trying to rationalise a "small" amount with something that may seem a trivial piece of consumption like a cup of coffee, thing is that notional value is also the daily earnings or more of 50% of the worlds population
So what exactly is the price of a cup of coffee?
Elsewhere in the first world there was great news that our favourite diversion may not be going under, hurrah. Unfortunately eleven people are still currently without a job and they are the eleven most important people connected to blip right now. The liquidators are in and hopefully there will be a resolution to this issue that means these people will have a job. The new owners, if there is a sale, will then have to look at the business, remember it did fail. We may soon be asked about the price of a cup of coffee.
