Change of plans

Today I was supposed to be flying back to Edinburgh after an amazing week in Iceland. However, as we were soaking in the Blue Lagoon reflecting on the trip and the impending aurora storm that was going to hit the island we made the snap decision to change our flights by a couple of days, extend the car booking and head back up to Kirkjufell.

What an amazing display! Arriving at dusk the aurora was already visible to the naked eye and it was so bright that it was even possible to take a snap on an iphone and see clearly defined aurora! 10 hours later as the sun was starting to rise in the East we decided to pack up but not until the Northern Lights gave us another farewell display!

This truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity!
