Strawberry fields forever!

Cleaned out 16 window boxes of strawberry plants today. A lot of work. They had been neglected since last Autumn and badly needed some love.

Found plenty of white grub like creatures so disposed of the earth and refilled with a base of well rotted manure and compost.

They look much healthier now. We keep them in the poly tunnel on trays and this year have decided to put some old towels (soaked) under the plants and on the trays so when we water them the will keep some of the moisture. Last year they dried out a lot and took s lot of looking after.

Looking forward to some juicy berries around my birthday in June
