Doves in Serpa

Drove to Serpa today - which is where our love affair with the Alentejo began - and the love is definitely still there... to live somewhere where the squares are lined with orange trees, and everyone has a lemon tree in their yard with lemons so perfect they look like Jiffs...

Walked along the castle walls - the parts left standing after the Spaniards exploded them in 1707, leaving two huge blocks wedged precariously between the walls. As we walked, flights of doves kept circling above our heads - made me dizzy looking up at them as they whizzed past.

PS. I wanted to upload a photo of a centuries old olive tree, but Blip would only do it sideways - does anyone know how to rectify this?
