Fukuoka Friday
A grey day in Fukuoka. Poor John has been ill so we left him in the hotel and headed out for Ohori Park. We wandered over the ruins of the castle (amazing fortified stones walls), eagerly inspected the enormous cherry trees which in a few days will start to blossom. Close but no cigar for us mind you there were some younger trees which were fully out in the park with a huge assortment of people taking selfies with them. There was even a street which had cherry blossom out but again the young trees. The East Fukuoka Tree appreciation club were out searching with us and I did find one of the old big trees with one blossom out. The club members went wild. I have to say I saw even one of them with a small cutting from the cherry. Horrors!! I can well imagine just how beautiful this will all look in a week.
From there we took a bus back to the river and walked along it for a while. This shot was taken where the two branches joined and there was a rather lovely display of tulips and other spring flowers that had even drawn a school excursion and the children (reasonably young with white hats seemed quite interested).
I decided mono as it just seemed to suit it better on this grey day.
Tomorrow we are on the move again for my last stop before I fly home on Sunday.
