Milestones for the day...

After a looong time without going to the movies, today we went to see "Take shelter", an excellent thriller by Jeff Nichols about a man haunted by visions of a terrible storm and how he will try to protect his family from what he thinks is coming.

My mother gave me one of her oldest cooking books, "Cozinha Tradicional Portuguesa" ("Portuguese Traditional Cuisine"), by Maria de Lurdes Modesto, an historical figure of culinary TV in Portugal. This extensive collection of traditional recipes was bought by my mother in April of 1982 (thirty years ago!) and it served as a basis of her culinary education (she hadn't learned to cook before her 30s).
