Tale of Two Gardens
The new garden bench for the new patio in the neglected garden remains in its flatpack while we jaunt off.
Everything is further ahead in the cottage garden: the roses are itching with impatience; the crocuses are almost back to sleep; some daffs are out, others are thinking about it; the primula are lovely; the camellia (usually a solid column of colour) is having a hissy fit after a rather strict cutting back last year - flowers at both sides and at the back, hardly a bloom at the front.
If you talk to the plants in the neglected garden they swear back at you ; in the cottage garden they engage in witty banter! The soil is rich and crumbly, yielding weeds at the touch of the hoe (at home it is a constant war with waterlogged clay soil that hangs on to its dandelions like grim death. )
Anyway, we've switched the heaters on indoors while we work outside; we've had a nice lunch at Coast; the coal/log fire is ready to be lit; the sun is showing a little every now and then ............. and no couples are failing to get married!! Wonder how that story continued!
