Changes

No going back now! We decided to remove the old gas fire and knock it all back. We were hoping to find a lovely old lintel under the plaster, but there wasn't one there..... so change of plan. We went on an adventure looking for either a stone lintel or wooden beam, and ended up going to an amazing reclamation yard in Preston. We found a beautiful 500 year old wooden French beam, which just about fit in the car, and which  gave me very sore arms carrying it up the drive.
