Remedial Action

Today our electrician arrived and having essentially finished the installation work (a couple of items remain to be fitted) proceeded to test all of the installed wiring and check that the current installation meets the latest regulations.  My original earth connection to the gas pipe was with a relatively lightweight conductor.  The current regulations require that such earths should be ten square millimetre cross section, which the earlier one was not.  In view of the fact that the boiler will be replaced it was deemed sensible to ensure that the earth met the current standards.  The easiest way to do this was to run directly from the incoming earth connection out through the house wall along to the kitchen and then back in through the kitchen wall to connect to the gas pipe, where it comes into the house.  Today’s blip is of the electrician fitting this earth connection.
