Pub Crawl
We didn't actually crawl -- that's our car in the photo (no, not the blue BMW), but we did go to two pubs in 3.5 hours today, and thoroughly enjoyed both the beer and the food in both of them.
In addition to the excellent beer list -- Good Ol' Boy Pale Ale is our current favorite -- at Kulshan Brewing Company, the newest brewery in town, today there was also a special "Taco Thyme truck" (a tent) outside. Ciao Thyme brought their culinary expertise to the street, and the spit-roasted pork with roasted pineapple was a popular choice. You can't see it on my tostada here -- it's hiding under the fresh greens, avocado, pineapple, radishes, and black beans -- but once I reached the pork layer, photography was the last thing on my mind!
We ran into almost a dozen friends and acquaintances there, which made the afternoon even brighter, and then Phil got a hot tip from one of the brewery guys -- The Copper Hog, another fine pub, had some Cascade Strawberry Sour Beer! Cascade Brewing was the pub we went to three times in five days last month while we were in Portland, and we were thrilled to try another of their beers here. It's beautiful and delicious, and went well with the tender happy hour coconut-crusted calamari with mango, red onion, and sweet chili sauce we shared, as well as the house fries (chips) and a chocolate-ginger torte.
You can see a photo of me hard at work photographing the torte on a link in Phil's account of our day here. It was a very pleasant break from cooking!
