Day 7: White Sands, New Mexico
Early start ahead of a long day of driving. We picked up the rental car, said goodbye to El Paso after our very brief stay and headed north to New Mexico and White Sands National Monument. It felt good to be in a car, the road trip has now properly begun.
White Sands is awesome, a white sand desert in the middle of the regular, fairly green, New Mexico desert landscape. I tried to no avail to teach the boys how to handstand and then we drove on to Tucson, which we were initially pronouncing Tus-con, then Tuc-son and finally Tu-son! We found a steakhouse for Josh's birthday meal and then rolled back to the motel next door for the night.
