Bird Island...

...off Smaills Beach on the Otago Peninsula.  It is a lovely beach to walk on but have to deal with high sand dunes there and back.  Could do 'there' but 'back' maybe a horror.
We parked at a viewing area just off the road down to the beach carpark and enjoyed our daily coffee. 
When looking at this image, Smaills Beach is to the left and Tomahawk Beach to the right.  Bird Island breaks up the waves and thus you can see the wavelets coming together at opposing angles.  Makes for some interesting wave action when stormy!!
You can just make out a beach walker and dog middle left near the water line.
