How not to photograph an eclipse

First day back in Scotland and I was up out and early to snap the eclipse that was going to be about 98% from Edinburgh. I have been away for pretty much most of the month but despite this, I had seen enough warnings about the dangers of looking straight into the sun. However, there were so many photographers looking straight through their DSLR viewfinders into the sun without any filters or any protection - crazy!
