Sunday Blues

An afternoon wasted today! 

Prompted to download latest version of iOS onto my phone, and duly complied with Apple High Command. 

90% of the way in it stopped and an error message flashed up. 

"An unknown error has occurred(56)"

A couple more attempts. Failed again.

Restore. 

Failed.  

Frantic search through forum and troubleshooting pages to check what the error message meant and try the various solutions - each one systematically failing! 

Logged in to check the warranty and servicing information of the phone which is still covered (I only got it late last year!) but redirected to a Korean webpage...

Tracked down a local authorised retailer - and started looking up the Korean for "Help! My phone has stopped - can you fix it, please" and other useful phrases when a friend suggested the restore process again, but with the SIM card removed... 

CRISIS AVERTED. 

15 minutes later it was up and running again. Thankfully my phone was backed up this morning so nothing is lost. And the world goes on... 

But the stress of it all!

Perhaps I over rely on this little bit of tech. But, when you're far, far away just being able to have a little bit of instant human contact/check a map/take a photo/translate a sign makes the world of difference!
