Saltire over Northumberland
View from The Friary in Alnmouth looking across the river mouth. Enjoyed the views, then, when I looked across the sky I spotted the cross in the sky.
Reminded me of one of the story of the birth of the Saltire - the appearance of a cloud cross in the sky before the battle at Athelstaneford in 832. At that time East Lothian was part of Northumberland, so perhaps this is more appropriate than first appears.
In those days there were no vapour trails from planes so it would have been even more special.
