Samme Ling
1. Hotel breakfast then on the road for a bit of an adventure. We mooch on over to Samme Ling Buddhist temple. We've been here before but it is still startling to see the temple for the first time, glistening gold and red in the Dumfries and Galloway hillside. This is picture is the hillside opposite. It is sunny and still - the only noise the gentle fluttering of the prayer flags.
2. To Ettrick, where James Hogg was born. A tiny place, not even a village, more llamas than people and a truly exquisite village hall - birght red roof and phone box to match.
3.Over a stunning road to Hawick. One view makes me stop the car. You can see for miles. Hawick is nice, we have a good lunch and a sit by the river.
4. We rescue Joyce and then return back up the hill. There is a great sculpture in honour of Mr McDiarmid on the way. We reach the top and can see further than the furthest thing.
5. The troops return and a nice evening in the pub unfolds.
