a bear ritual

so it goes like this.... one bear approaches another bear and if that bear is a bit uncertain about things the second bear walks backwards until there is something convenient to put between them - they then typically engage.... eg. stand up on hind legs and have a bit of a coy play with the 'thing' between them acting as a buffer..... then depending on the bears involved it will turn into a full on wrestle/play ..... or second bear will turn and run.... this one involved much huffing and wrestling and some rules... eg. dominant bear got the other bear down on his back and held him there for a minute - then they both got up, grinned, and did it all over again...
bear etiquette seems quite complicated at times..... bit like us really (except we play a lot less)
