Don't pull up all the garden 'weeds'!
This late, dry, cold spring (in Buckinghamshire, at least) is a real challenge for some of the insects that are emerging each time we get a little burst of sunshine. There is not yet the normal range of flower shapes and sizes to provide them all with nectar. Some will possibly be more reliant than normal on 'weeds' like this Red Deadnettle. Leaving some to flower will not only be helping insects, if you look more closely than normal you will find that it has really beautiful flowers, like a miniature orchid. Look at 'weeds' afresh!
