It was blue!

We were taking bets in advance of today's meeting as to the colour of Michael Portillo's jacket. In his TV series on railway journeys he wears jackets in outrageous colours, so today's was comparatively sober.
He was a brilliant speaker. He was very funny but at the same time made serious points. The WI is strictly non party political but as a former Tory MP Michael made many humorous comments about life in the House, and what it was like to work for Margaret Thatcher. He was happy afterwards to take questions from the floor. He charmed his audience of 600 women who declared he was the best speaker they have ever heard.
